Xenia Kalognomas

Associate

Xenia has experience handling complex and high-value commercial disputes, with a particular focus on civil fraud and banking litigation before the English High Court, as well as international arbitration in the ICC and LCIA.

Xenia also has experience acting for and against state-owned entities, international companies and high-net-worth individuals. Her work has spanned various sectors including banking, financial services, hospitality, energy and infrastructure. In addition, she has experience advising on sanctions issues and bringing them to the Court of Appeal.

Xenia is recognised as a key lawyer for Banking Litigation in Legal 500 UK, where she is highlighted as being “absolutely outstanding.”

Xenia has a keen interest in the impact of ESG on businesses, including the risks associated with climate change litigation and increasing regulatory pressure, and has authored various articles on the subject.

Xenia is a bilingual lawyer and is fluent in Greek.

PJSC National Bank Trust & Anor v Mints & Ors

Acting on a high-value and complex civil fraud claim defending members of the Mints family from claims worth £850 million brought by two Russian state-owned banks in the English High Court.

Mints & Ors v PJSC National Bank Trust & Anor

Bringing the above case to the Court of Appeal, where it was held that the entry of a money judgment in favour of a designated person is not prohibited under the UK sanctions regime.

LCIA Arbitration

Acting for a high-net-worth individual on various matters arising out of a dispute over the ownership and governance of a substantial hotel business concerning allegations worth £225 million of unfair prejudice brought by a minority shareholder in the business.

Telecommunications Company

Acting for one of the five largest telecommunications companies in the world bringing allegations of fraud against senior executives worth over £50 million.

Petroleum Company

Acting for a state–owned petroleum company defending a $1.14 billion claim in the ICC in 2021, involving claims of breach of contract and fraudulent misrepresentation.
