Louise Lau

Associate

Louise advises clients on their complex and high-value commercial litigation and arbitration, often with crisis and cross-border elements. She is experienced in disputes in technology and IP-rich sectors, particularly with technically complex products or assets at their core.

Louise’s broader practice includes acting for financial institutions, funds, global corporates and professional services firms. She has advised at all stages of a dispute, with experience in arbitrations under various institutional rules and the English Courts (in the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court). Prior to joining the firm, Louise undertook two secondments to a global technology platform.

Louise maintains an active pro bono practice, which includes having acted for the LGBT Foundation, Rainbow Migration, the RCJ Citizen Advice Bureaux, the Homeless Persons’ Legal Service (Australia) and Arts Law Centre of Australia.

Tech platform

Acting for a global technology platform in defence of novel and high-stakes threatened group litigation concerning online and offline harms.

 

Pharmaceutical company

Acting for a global pharmaceutical company in defence of a £175 million contribution claim involving R&D and market entry of a patented drug.

 

Bank

Acting for a bank in a €2 billion LCIA dispute arising from the financing of an oil refinery, involving allegations of breach of contract, conspiracy and other economic torts.

 

Telecoms provider

Acting for a telecoms provider in defending a contractual termination claim and counter-claim in the High Court involving issues of breach and repudiation.

 

Internet company

Acting for an internet company in its claims against Google concerning alleged abuse of a dominant position.
