Fiona Huntriss

Partner

Focusing on litigation and broader disputes strategies, Fiona’s portfolio encompasses high-profile finance litigation, restructuring and insolvency-related litigation, commercial litigation, shareholder disputes and sovereign debt disputes. She frequently litigates both before the English Courts and other fora, in complex, multi-jurisdictional and novel situations. Fiona also has a strong advisory practice working with clients to understand litigation risk and develop litigation strategies ahead of time.

Fiona’s expert litigation skills combined with commercial nous has resulted in a proven track record in her cases. She has successfully represented numerous bondholder and lender groups in English litigation, as well as in contentious restructurings where she is able to contribute authoritative technical knowledge with litigation savvy. Fiona has a prolific record in commercial litigations before the English High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Her quality and work is recognised by longstanding rankings in the major directories. Fiona is currently ranked as a Leading Individual in Chambers UK for Banking Litigation (Band 2) and in Chambers UK (Band 4) and Chambers Global (Band 5) for Commercial Litigation. She is also a Leading Individual for Banking Litigation and Commercial Litigation in Legal 500 UK. Her clients describe her as “a superb litigator” who ”really adds effective, critical input into case strategy”, and who has “a seemingly effortless ability to brilliantly manage client relationships … stay on top of the facts and deliver razor sharp legal advice”. Fiona won Securities Litigator of the Year at the IFLR European Women in Business Law Awards 2023 and was included in The Lawyer’s “Hot 100” list 2023. Credit Suisse AT1 Holders

Acting for holders in correspondence and proceedings against the Swiss authorities, Credit Suisse and UBS in respect of the AT1 write-downs.

 

Major S90 FSMA Claim

Acting for large group of institutional investors in prospectus liability claim against Glencore plc, for amounts in excess of £2bn.

 

Tuna Bond Litigation

Acting in complex English court proceedings against the Republic of Mozambique and Credit Suisse with respect to the “tuna bond scandal”, where amounts in dispute are over £500m.

 

Madison Pacific

Acting for a trustee in complex litigation (and related arbitration) proceedings relating to the bail-in of the Ukrainian bank PrivatBank, and the resultant failure to repay €500m of notes.

 

Claimant in Misrepresentation Proceedings

Acting for Parsdome Holdings in English litigation concerning misrepresentations made in the context of negotiations to settle a convertible note.
