Our New York Partner, Joshua Naftalis, shares his thoughts with Reuters on the new U.S Department of Justice program to encourage whistleblowers to come forward and report wrongdoing.
Damian Williams, the top federal prosecutor in Manhattan, said that his office would enter into a non-prosecution agreement under the program with individuals involved in non-violent criminal conduct who voluntarily report offenses and cooperate with investigators.
Josh, a former Southern District of New York prosecutor, said that he expects the program will encourage more cooperation to uncover illegal activity and that “it adds more certainty, which is what people want when they go into the U.S. attorney’s office and self-report.”
