Neil advises financial institutions and corporates on a broad range of domestic and international disputes involving debt or equity investments with a focus on special situations, restructuring and insolvency. He has particular experience, in that context, in banking and finance litigation, distressed investments, contentious restructuring and insolvency as well as in disputes involving financial transactions and products, high value investments and commercial arrangements and financial regulatory issues.
Neil has over 25 years of experience, in London and New York, both in private practice and as part of an investment business in a major international investment bank. Earlier in his career, Neil had substantial experience negotiating and drafting financial arrangements, under English and New York law, as well as his more recent experience of reviewing such arrangements in the context of potential or actual disputes. This provides him with a unique understanding of both the legal and business aspects of complex problems; he has a strong track record of using the law to craft successful and innovative solutions. Neil has featured as a regular guest speaker at conferences of leading trade associations in the financial sector and has been a guest lecturer in the MBA courses at Oxford University and Imperial College London.
