Brianna Hills Simopoulos

Associate

Brianna represents plaintiffs and defendants at all stages of complex commercial litigation. She has particular experience in capital markets, antitrust, restructuring, and cross-border litigation, frequently representing institutional investors.

Brianna’s recent experience includes representing institutional shareholders in connection with appraisal litigation in the Cayman Islands, Bermuda, and Japan, including in precedent-setting Section 1782 discovery proceedings in federal courts across the United States, and representing institutional creditors in multiple suits arising out of corporate bond defaults.

Brianna has been recognised as a Business Litigation “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers. She formerly clerked for Judge Charles R. Wilson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Offshore Appraisal Section 1782 Proceedings

Section 1782 discovery proceedings for dissenting shareholders pursuing billions of dollars in offshore shareholder appraisal claims, including in connection with the take-private mergers of 58.com, SINA, LINE Corp., 51Jobs.com, Myovant Sciences, Innoplexus, and New Frontier Health.

 

Kaisa Group Holdings

Representing Oasis Management as the holder of New York law governed bonds issued by Kaisa, a China-based property conglomerate in default on billions of dollars in international obligations.

 

EpiPen Antitrust Litigation

Multidistrict class-action litigation on behalf of purchasers forced to overpay for life-saving EpiPens, leading to settlements of more than $600 million for EpiPen purchasers.

 

Generic Drug Price-Fixing Litigation

Represented a major healthcare company as an opt-out plaintiff in multidistrict class action litigation over price-fixing allegations covering more than a hundred generic drugs in In re Generic Drug Price-Fixing Litigation.

 

Louisiana Trigger Ban Litigation

High-impact constitutional litigation in Louisiana following the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, including securing the first ruling in the nation to block the implementation of a state’s unconstitutionally vague “trigger bans” following Dobbs.
