“Political parties, more than anyone, should understand the importance of respecting the rule of law.”
Pallas is representing Good Law Project in the next stage of its legal challenge against Reform UK for breaching voters’ data rights.
Over 50 people have jointly filed a groundbreaking legal claim against Reform UK after its failure to respond properly to their personal data requests and consecutive legal letters.
Good Law Project is representing the claimants after it created a tool in the lead up to the general election that allowed voters to ask political parties what information they had on them and to demand its deletion through a Data Subject Access Request (DSAR). However, 96% of individuals surveyed by Good Law Project who used the tool to contact Reform with a DSAR said they hadn’t received a response from Reform, which was a breach of its obligations under the law.
As a result, The Good Law Project issued a Letter Before Action to Reform to challenge its refusal to meet its legal obligations. Reform has since ignored subsequent legal letters from Good Law Project and claimants are taking further action collectively to challenge Reform UK in the courts under a new legal mechanism which has barely been tested before in the UK.
The Pallas team is being led by partner Matt Getz and also includes counsel Rekha Rogers and associate Joseph Fox-Davies.
